To all the things I thought I wouldn't do...

I would never be able to live abroad.

I would never live anywhere that snowed.

I would never put ranch on my pizza.

I would never smoke weed.

I would never work in sales.

I would never be my own boss.

I would never believe anyone's lies.

I would never do public speaking outside of a classroom setting.

I would never like snow.

I would never forget to call back.

I would never allow myself to be sad.

I would never disappoint my friends.

I would never be smart enough to get good grades.

I would never make my family proud.

I would never allow other people's opinions to affect me.

I would never talk about things that bother me if it meant making someone else uncomfortable.

I would never prioritize myself over others.

I would find comfort in living alone.

I would never study in the school of my dreams.

I would never find what truly makes me happy.

I would never be allowed to dress in rave clothes.

I would never have true freedom to go wherever I wanted to.

I would never know peace.

I would never be comfortable in my own skin.

I would never have time to read again.

I would never be able to concentrate long enough in something to make it grow.

I would never be a plant mom.

I would never be organized.

I would never follow through with a plan.

I would never be working with something I love.

I would never find love in music.

I would survive on my own.

The list could go on, but for now, I take comfort in knowing I have an open mind to adapt and do the things I thought I could never do. Some of these things I felt like I could never do, others, someone else made me feel that way. The world is full of people filled with regrets and envy, don't let yourself fall in the rabbit hole of believing them.

I have also been one of my biggest critics, but I'm slowly learning to be kinder to myself. Things take time. When we are young life seems to pass in an incredible speed, so it's important to breath and allow yourself to experience the right here and right now. What can I do to make today better? What can I try today that might help me tomorrow? Shielding yourself from things that might bring you harm do more damage than good. Failures and disappointments are essential parts of a human being's growth, and its that famous "if you don't try it you'll never know."

Believe in yourself, your potential, and to all the things I said I would never do, I'm glad I did it.
